Ride the Range

If you want to experience some of the best biking in the Midwest, heck, the country, head North to Ride the Range. The three hours you spend going “up” from Minnesota’s Twin Cities will be repaid on these amazing trails.

From Iron Mines to Gold Mines of Trails

No one takes iron ore mines and turns them into magical trail systems like the Range. Cuyuna, Tioga and Redhead all got their start as open pit mines. Today, they offer riders incredible views, varied terrain and some of the best-designed trails you’ll find anywhere. Plus, all have water features, great for kayaking or swimming. And Redhead has the top pump track and skills course in the state.

Cuyuna might be the granddaddy of them all, but Redhead and Tioga are keeping things fresh on the Range. Just because you’ve done one doesn’t mean you’ve done them all!

A Resort, A Wilderness and A Wild Ride

Meanwhile, at Giants Ridge in Biwabik, lift-served gravity, cross-country and enduro trails give you great variety. And Hidden Valley is nine miles of heaven just outside the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderess. Finally, from Grand Rapids, across the Iron Range, up to Ely, Minnesota,  the 165-mile paved Mesabi Trail is all hills and turns. s
